Unit 10  How many  are there?

一、Teaching Objectives:

The First Period
Step 1. Getting ready
1) T:(point to the orange tree in the first picture.) Let’s count the oranges.(请学困生)
2) After Ss have had a chance to count, ask Ss how many oranges there are.
3) Accept all answers.
4) Do the same for the peaches in picture 3 and the sandwiches in pictures 4, 5 and6.
Step2. Using the book
1) T: let’s listen.
2) Play the tape one time and ask Ss some comprehension questions.(请优生)
3) T: close your books. How many peaches are there?
4) T: Now, let’s listen again.
5) Have Ss follow along.
6) Play the tape again, pausing after each sentence and letting Ss repeat.
Step3 Extension activity
Have Ss make flash cards with pictures of oranges, peaches and cherries. Ss can put between 13 and 20 items per card, but only one type of fruit on each card. Divide Ss into two or three teams. Put the cards in a bag. Have team members take turns picking cards out of the bag. The class asks these Ss how many are there? Ss answer accordingly, e.g. there are 13. They keep the cards if they answer correctly.
Step 4 practice1
1) T: Let’s listen.
2) Play the tape for number 1.
3) T: Which picture is it? Is it d? Is it c?
4) While Ss are responding, gradually move your hand to picture c.
5) T: C is number
6) Continue with the other three, pausing after each one.

Teaching Procedure:
Step1.Vocabularuy
4) Getting ready

Go around the class and collect pencils from the Ss. Collect at least 20 pencils.
Put pencils on a desk that is clearly visible to all Ss.
Count the pencils from 1 to 12 quickly.(请学困生)
T: thirteen! Fourteen! …
Do the one more time slowly and have Ss repeat after you.
5) Using the book
T: Listen and repeat. Point to each umbers as you say it.
Play the tape and have Ss repeat each word.
Point to the picture randomly and have Ss say the number.
6) Extension activity
Make groups of eight and have them sit in a circle. Assign each student a number from 13 through 20. The class starts a rhythm pattern by clapping their hands twice, putting their right thumbs up and putting their left thumbs up. Ss say two numbers to the rhythm.
Step2.Target
1) Using the book
Point to the picture and model the dialog.(请优生)
T: listen and repeat.
Play the tape and pause after each sentence for Ss to repeat.
2) Extension activity
Gather in various numbers and display them at the front of the room. Say hoe many (pencils) are there? Have Ss repeat. Ask S1 to come to the front and count the items. S1 answers there are (fifteen pencils).

1通过实物教学新内容,操练新知识,学生有较浓厚的学习兴趣,而且教学效果较好。
2在学习故事的过程中,作示范不够清晰,因此,有部分学生对故事中的人物区分不是很清楚,在示范时演示范清楚,直到学生明白为止会更好。
3多媒体的运用,增添了学习的色彩感,效果好。

Teaching Procedure:
Step1. Practice2
1) T:  Now, listen and answer the questions.
2) Play the tape and have Ss answer questions.(请优生)
3) Put Ss in small groups to ask and answer the questions.
Step2.Song
1) T: Are you ready to learn a new song? Let’s listen first.
2) Play the tape and point to each phrase as it is sung.
3) Divide Ss into two groups. One group sings the questions and the other group sings the responses. Both groups do the Hey parts together.
4) Song
Ss pretend that they are singing the song on T V. T pretends to watch them. When T turns on the TV with an imaginary remote control, Ss begin singing. When T turns the TV off, Ss continue singing the song silently in their heads. When T turns the suddenly turns the TV on again, Ss start singing out loud again.
Step3. Activity1
1) Have Ss look at the numbers and letters for this activity.
2) Have Ss work alone or in pares to decode the numbers and write the words in their appropriate positions.

3) Circulate through the classroom and check Ss’ work.
4) T: Do you like this? What are these?
Step4.Extension activity
         Have Ss refer to the chart in the book for this game. In advance, T translates one of the vocabulary words into numbers using the code chart. T writes each number on a separate piece of paper. Put Ss in small groups.

5) Give Ss two minutes to look and count the items.
6) T: Close your books. How many (jackets) are there?

Step2. Sounds and words
1) Have Ss look at the words on the page.
2) T: Let’s listen to the tape.
3) Play the tape and have Ss point to each word as the tape says it.

5) Have Ss repeat after the tape.
6) After enough practice, point to the pictures randomly and have Ss say the word.
7) Help Ss if they have difficulty making the sound/v/.
8) T: Let’s listen to the chant.
9) Play the tape once.
10) T: Now, listen and point to the clocks.
11) Play the tape again and have Ss point to the corresponding clocks while listening.
12) T: OK. Let’s chant together.
13) Play the tape and have Ss chant along.
Step 3. Extension activity
      Ss stand in two lines, or more for a large class. T whispers a series of one to four of the vocabulary words to the first Ss in each line. S1 whispers the series to S2 and so on down the line. The last student in each row tells the class what was whispered into his/her ear. Rotate the Ss who are the first and last in the “telephone” line and start again with a new series of words.

2) Let Ss touch the utensils and feel them as you introduce the new words.
Step2. Using the book
1) T: (point to the spoons in the first picture.) what ate these? Ss they’re spoons. That’s right. They’re spoons.
2) Let’s listen.
3) Let’s listen again and repeat.
4) Play the tape one time and ask Ss some comprehension questions.
5) Put Ss into groups of four.
6) One student takes the role of Go g o, one takes the role of Tony, One takes the role of the man and the last student takes the role of the woman.
7) Have Ss act out the dialog using real.
8) Play the tape again if necessary.
Step3 Extension activity
Have Ss repeat and do the same gestures as T. T points to himself/herself and says I. point to them selves and say I. point to Ss and say you. Ss point to T and say you. Point to Ss and T himself/herself several times and say we. Does she have napkins? No, she doesn’t. She has glasses. Do you have forks? Yes, we do. Ss point to themselves and T and say we. Point to the picture of Tony, Jenny and Go g o and say they. Ss do the same. Do this until Ss have a clear grasp of the meanings of the words.
Step 4 practice1
1) T: Let’s listen.
2) Play the tape for number 1.
3) T: Which picture is it? Is it a? Is it b?
4) While Ss are responding, gradually move your hand to picture a.
5) T: A is number 1. Write the number 1 in the box.
6) Continue with the other three, pausing after each one.
